California Woman Sues Carnival Cruise Line After Slip and Fall on Wet Dance Floor Aboard Carnival Radiance
Taylor Marshall, a California resident, has filed a maritime personal injury lawsuit against Carnival Corporation in the Southern District of Florida. The lawsuit, filed under Case No. 1:25-cv-23268, alleges that Marshall suffered serious injuries after slipping on a wet and unmarked floor at a dance club on the Carnival Radiance on May 16, 2024.
Passenger Claims Slippery Dance Floor on Carnival Radiance Caused Fall and Serious Injuries
According to the complaint, Marshall was enjoying an evening at the ship’s onboard dance club when she encountered a wet and slippery area on the dance floor. She alleges that Carnival failed to clean or block off the area and did not place any visible warning signs to alert passengers to the hazardous condition. As a result, Marshall slipped and fell, sustaining injuries that required medical attention.
The lawsuit argues that wet floors in entertainment venues on cruise ships pose foreseeable slip hazards, particularly when dancing or high foot traffic is involved. Carnival is accused of failing to inspect and maintain the dance floor to ensure passenger safety.
Carnival Accused of Negligence in Dance Club Safety and Floor Maintenance
Marshall’s legal team asserts that Carnival breached its duty of care by not properly monitoring, cleaning, or warning passengers about the wet floor. The complaint alleges that the cruise line did not implement reasonable safety procedures to prevent the accumulation of liquid on the dance floor, which is especially prone to spills during nighttime events.
The lawsuit emphasizes that Carnival’s failure to take preventive measures—such as placing warning cones or stationing crew members to monitor conditions—directly led to Marshall’s slip and fall accident.
Lawsuit Seeks Compensation for Medical Expenses, Pain and Suffering, and Lost Wages
Marshall claims that as a result of the accident, she sustained significant injuries leading to physical pain, medical expenses, emotional distress, and loss of enjoyment of life. She is seeking compensatory damages for past and future medical treatment, as well as lost wages and diminished earning capacity due to her injuries.
